The NEC Laboratories Europe in Heidelberg have an immediate opening for a


Software Engineer/Research Scientist


in networked multimedia, IPTV, and social media services. Work focuses on research and software development for NEC internal R&D projects as well as for European Union collaborative R&D projects with industrial and academic partners. It is expected that you focus on the conception, design and development of rich-media services in telecommunication, broadcaster and home environments. English is the working language in the Laboratories.

Skills are required in the following fields:
A good understanding of networked media systems from device to protocols to user interface aspects, from current system concepts to future development and research
Proficiency  in C/C++/Java, network programming Web-Scripting languages and Widgets
Good understanding and practical experiences with SIP protocol and media streaming
Know-how in Web2.0-based media services
Proficiency with Linux as the main development platform
Experience with OO-software design, development and testing.

Target platforms for software development will be PCs, smart phones, tablet PCs, and home gateways. We expect a Master of Science Degree in computer science or electrical engineering.
