Type of Project : Fleetnet is a project supported
by the German Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (bmb+f)

||
|
The FleetNet project develops a wireless multi-hop ad hoc network for inter-vehicle communication to improve the driver's and passenger's safety and comfort. Key design requirements for FleetNet are the capability to distribute locally relevant data where generated and needed and to satisfy the vehicle drivers' and passengers' needs for location-dependent information and services. Location awareness and position data play a crucial role not only for FleetNet applications but also for the communication protocols deployed. NEC Network Labs Europe and University of Mannheim design and evaluate
position-based routing and forwarding strategies for vehicular ad hoc
networks within the framework of the FleetNet project. We follow a three-pronged
approach looking at a) analytical investigations, b) performance evaluation
via simulation, and c) implementation of a real-world vehicle test network. Analysis and Simulation:

is beneficial for dealing with these highly dynamic networks.
